The NRF is very proud to announce that it has been added as a funding partner for the Australian Brain Cancer Mission.

Cancer Australia today announced two new Funding Partners for the Australian Brain Cancer Mission – ACT Health and Canberra Health Services, and the NeuroSurgical Research Foundation – with a combined investment of $5.95 million to improve outcomes for people with brain cancer.

ACT Health and Canberra Health Services are committing $3.95 million to the Mission over 10 years. The funding will cover multiple projects including: pre-clinical trials and research into the role of genomics; wellbeing centre programs and services; and the provision of a brain cancer specialist nurse.

The NeuroSurgical Research Foundation has committed $2 million over 10 years. This will fund the creation of an NRF Chair in Brain Tumour Research at the University of South Australia, along with support for independent, peer-reviewed projects addressing brain cancer.

The New South Wales Government is also investing an additional $500,000 in the Mission, through the Cancer Institute NSW, to fund additional brain cancer research, bringing its total contribution to $7.5 million over 6 years.

These new investments from ACT Health and Canberra Health Services, the NeuroSurgical Research Foundation and the State of New South Wales bring the total investment in the Mission to $131.15 million.

This has been achieved through $58.35m from the Australian Government’s Medical Research Future Fund, and significant donations from funding partners Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, Minderoo Foundation's Eliminate Cancer Initiative, Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer, the Mark Hughes Foundation, the Children’s Hospital Foundation Queensland, the State of Victoria, The Kids’ Cancer Project, the Financial Markets Foundation for Children, and the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation, on top of these new investments from the State of New South Wales, ACT Health and Canberra Health Services and the NeuroSurgical Research Foundation.
