Held on the one-year anniversary of John “Griff” Griffen’s passing from brain cancer, the inaugural Dress Like Griff Golf Day brought together family, friends and the wider Victor Harbor community for a heartfelt day of remembrance, connection and fundraising.

Hosted by Griff’s daughter Catie and family, the event celebrated Griff’s life in a way that reflected the warmth, humour and community spirit he was so well known for.
Supporters embraced the “Dress Like Griff” theme throughout the day, with prizes awarded for the best dressed, while raffles, generous prize donations and a popular wine wall featuring wines donated by Lake Breeze Wines helped raise vital funds for brain cancer research.

The event also included a moving minute’s silence at the golf club in honour of Griff, creating a special moment for family, friends and supporters to reflect together.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, the inaugural event raised an incredible $13,000 to support vital brain cancer research aimed at improving treatments and outcomes for patients and families facing this devastating disease.
The NRF extends its sincere thanks to Catie Griffen and the Griffen family for creating such a meaningful event in Griff’s honour, and to the many businesses, volunteers, donors and community members whose support helped make the day possible.

Special thanks to the teams at 4ORE Victor Harbor, the Victor Harbor Golf Club Pro Shop and bar staff, Lake Breeze Wines, Simon Pitman and Kirsten, and all those who donated raffle prizes, time, resources and support throughout the day.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to everyone who attended, shared stories, and helped honour Griff’s memory in such a special way.

Events like this are a powerful reminder of the impact community support can have in helping drive life-changing brain cancer research forward for South Australian patients and families.
