Welcome Dr Simon Sandler

Dr Sandler is a Consultant Spinal and Neurosurgeon, working at the Royal Adelaide Hospital both as Head of the Neurosurgery Unit and in the Spinal Unit. Growing up in Cape Town, he holds dual fellowship qualifications in neurosurgery from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa and The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He considers his first surgical passion to be spinal surgery, which is what initially brought him to Australia, travelling to Adelaide to complete subspecialist training as part of an AO Spine Fellowship.

We asked what he enjoys most about his career and what keeps him motivated:

“I value more than anything the privilege of being able to try and help people when they are at their most vulnerable and to try and improve their quality of life and time with their loved ones. I have worked with incredible surgeons and doctors who have taught me so much and I am hoping that I can also share and impart my knowledge to the next generation of surgeons who will continue to build and advance the future of neurosurgery.”
