Please join us at the Brain Cancer Impact Forum 2021 to raise awareness of the need for brain tumour research during Grey May, and to provided support to those with a brain tumour diagnosis. Everyone is welcome.

You will hear the latest on brain cancer research, learn about brain cancer impacts, and hear about the progress being made towards clinical trials for brain tumour research.

Event Overview

Session 1

Wellbeing support information for those with a brain tumour diagnosis:

  • Professor Marion Eckert - is the Inaugural Professor of Cancer Nursing in South Australia and the Inaugural Director, Rosemary Bryant AO Research Centre. Marion brings over 25 years’ experience in health care and has a strong clinical academic background.
  • Dr Evangeline Mantzioris is the Program Director of the Nutrition and Food Sciences Degree at the University of South Australia. She is an accredited dietitian and Sports Dietitian with vast experience in clinical dietetics, clinical teaching and private practice. She is also an Associate Editor of the Journal, Nutrition and Dietetics.

Session 2

University of South Australia researchers discuss their latest projects:

  • Dr Melinda Tea - Developing a comprehensive glioblastoma brain tumour resource for testing new and existing brain tumour therapies
  • Dr Briony Gliddon - A new approach to deliver drugs to brain tumours
  • Dr Lisa Ebert - Developing a new CAR-T cell therapy for glioblastoma

Session 3

Clinical trials and applications:

  • Dr Ganessan Kichenadasse a Medical Oncologist (Cancer Specialist) with knowledge of current clinical trials.
  • Dr Tessa Garget - Clinical cell therapy trials for childhood brain cancer
