Ride Like Crazy 17th January 2010
What is this appeal for?
Ride Like Crazy will promote the fight against cancer, with all profits supporting the Women's and Children's Hospital Foundation Inc. and the Neurosurgical Research Foundation Inc.
In October 2008, Senior Sergeant Mick "Crazy" Koemer was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. In an effort to assist Crazy and his family, his work colleagues and friends established a cycling event called Ride Like Crazy. On 22 January 2009 more than 600 riders took part in the fundraising event.
Due to the overwhelming success of Ride Like Crazy, South Australia Police has adopted the ride as a community event.
We are collecting funds to promote the fight against cancer, and raise money for the Women's and Children's Hospital Foundation Inc. and the Neurosurgical Research Foundation Inc.
How will the funds be used?
50% will go towards vital equipment for the Oncology department (children's cancer) at the Women's and Children's Hospital.
50% will go towards the purchase of a NanoZoomer which digitises and analyses cells - with specific use in brain tumour research.
Key areas of expenditure for funds donated:
All funds raised will be used to purchase cancer research and cancer treatment equipment.
No monies raised will be used for event organisation.
