Robert Anderson BE (mech) PhD

NRF Chair Student - Robert AndersonCurrent Position:
Deputy Director and Senior Research Fellow, Centre for Automotive Safety Research.

Achievements:
Recently awarded (jointly) the Penfold Simpson Prize for Neuroscience Research for work on the biomechanics of head impact injury.

Research with the Neurosurgery Department:

Biomechanics of axonal injury (understanding the physical origins of one of the most common forms of brain injury)

Computer simulations of brain injury production

All experimental work for this research relied on the Department of Neurosurgery

"We continue to study road accidents in this State to understand how improvement can be made to our roads and driving conditions, to make our community safer."

"Anything that can be done to ease the burden of injury on our community is worth pursuing. Brain injury is devastating for individuals and families and is part of the hidden consequences of traffic and other accidents. Producing better outcomes after injury can make a significant difference to many people’s lives."
