From our Patron 2010

As an organisation we aim to promote and build the presence and support base of neurosurgical and neuroscience research in South Australia

and I want to acknowledge the commitment and contribution that so readily comes from our many volunteers in support of that vision. Contributions come from all our Council members who continue to give of their time and expertise, from our Vice Patrons of the Foundation, NRF Life Members, Ambassadors, our Members and others from all walks of life who have been touched by the life changing value of neurosurgical research.

It has been a pivotal year for the NRF 2009 as we planned for the $2million Paediatric Neurosurgical Appeal. This will be our largest fundraising effort ever.

In order to underpin this effort the NRF has continued to take some significant forward steps in its capacity to raise funds and build our profile in the community. The funds raised in the Appeal will support critical research focused on neurosurgical problems in children including head injuries, brain tumours, epilepsy and birth defects and we look forward to providing you with regular updates on our progress in reaching our target level.

Thank you for your ongoing support; I encourage you to maintain your commitment to the NRF as I am confident the work done by the Foundation will continue to be of lasting value to all Australians. I especially ask you to make a donation and support the Paediatric Appeal.

Launching the NRF Paediatric Appeal in 2010

Neurosurgery saves children’s lives every day

Medical Research saves children’s lives in the future

The NRF Paediatric Appeal aims to raise $2million to establish ongoing research into brain diseases, life threatening conditions and trauma in children. Every day children die or their lives are severely compromised by conditions such as: arteriovenous malformation (AVM), aneurysms, brain tumours, brain haemorrhage, epilepsy and stroke. The Paediatric Appeal will help create and fund a new research position, based in Adelaide, in conjunction with the University of Adelaide, Royal Adelaide Hospital and Women’s & Children’s Hospital.
