Executive Officers Report:
Together we move forward
Your support of the NRF has enabled us to allocate a record $200,000 to neurosurgical research in 2009.
You will have read the details of these grant allocations in our newsletters throughout the year, the summary is;
1. The NRF has committed to funding $100,000 annually to establishing the neurosurgical fellows at the RAH and University of Adelaide to start next year.
2. Extended last years Brain Tumour Research known as the Jane Page Brain Tumour Research Fund by $50,000, this fund was donated to by Dr Jeremy Hallpike, Coopers Brewery Foundation and Bill & Jo Cooper.
3. The second half of $24,426 to Parkinson’s disease research from the Joan Estelle Hutchesson Estate.
4. Finally, with $31,673 given to set up a Trigeminal Neuralgia research, which was the DS Moten estate.
Your donations combined with Prof. Robert Vink’s ability to attract and manage an ever-growing pool of researchers has ensured that there is now more leading edge neurosurgical research happening here in Adelaide covering an ever-growing spectrum of neurosurgical conditions.
You will have read in other reports in this document, the continued growth of the NRF is forecast to increase our support of neurosurgical research into the paediatric area with specific childrens neurosurgical research being established next year.
So our call to you for ongoing support will continue while the research continues and the projects increase with our final goal to save more lives.
So thank you to our donors, members, volunteers and supporters for all your contributions and I wanted to let you know that your past support has been greatly appreciated however the need is even greater now for continued support as we continue expanding. I look forward to writing to you next year through our newsletter to keep you posted on what research your donations are funding and what life saving changes they are making.
